Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 30, 2025
Last Updated: August 30, 2025
Allen County Fairgrounds (accessible at allencountyfairgroundsin.com) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through our website, how we use and safeguard that information, and your rights regarding your data. We aim to be transparent and exceed the requirements of U.S. privacy laws-including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) (as amended by the CPRA), the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), and other state privacy regulations - by providing clear details about our data practices. This Policy applies to all information collected through our website and related services that link to it. By using our site, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Information We Collect
We collect personally identifiable information (PII) that you provide directly, as well as certain information automatically when you interact with our site.
• Information You Provide to Us: When you fill out our contact forms or otherwise communicate with us, we collect the information you choose to give. This typically includes your full name, email address, phone number, the topic of your interest or inquiry, and your message content. These details are considered "personal data," meaning information that can identify you (for example, your name, email, or phone number). If you sign up for any newsletters or promotions in the future, we may also collect your name and email for that purpose. We will also collect any other information you intentionally submit to us (such as if you become a member or submit an application through forms on our site).
• Information Collected Automatically: Like most websites, we gather some data automatically when you visit our site. This includes technical information such as your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type, device identifiers, and browsing actions on our site (e.g. pages viewed, date/time of visit, referral URL). We (or authorized third parties) may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like web beacons or pixels) to collect this usage data. This data may be considered personal information under various laws since it can identify or relate to you (for instance, an IP address or unique online identifier can be personal data). We use this information to understand how visitors use our site, to ensure it functions properly, and to support our advertising and analytics efforts (as described below).
• Information from Third Parties: We may receive personal information about you from third-party sources in certain situations. For example, if you purchase event tickets or register for a fair event through our third-party ticketing partner (Fairs.com)., that platform may share with us details of your registration or purchase (such as your name, contact information, and event registration details) so that we can coordinate the event or verify your ticket. Additionally, if you engage with our content on social media (for example, by visiting our official pages or tagging us), the social media platform may share aggregate or profile information with us as permitted by your privacy settings on that platform. We treat any information obtained from third parties according to this Privacy Policy, plus any additional restrictions imposed by the source of the data.
How We Use Your Information
We use the personal information we collect for the following purposes, and we ensure these uses are disclosed to you for transparency:
• To Respond to Inquiries and Provide Services: We process the contact details and messages you provide in order to respond to your questions, requests, or comments. For example, if you ask about renting our venue or request event information, we will use the information you provide to communicate with you and to provide the requested information or assistance.
• To Manage and Improve Our Events and Services: Information you provide may be used to facilitate event-related services (such as processing event registrations or coordinating ticket pickup through our partnership with Fairs.com). We also analyze usage and feedback to improve our fairground events, website content, and services. For instance, understanding which pages are visited most helps us tailor our site to better serve user interests and enhance your experience.
• To Send Updates and Marketing Communications: With your consent (where required), we may use your contact information to send you newsletters, updates, marketing emails, or other communications about Allen County Fairgrounds events, promotions, or news. If you join our email list, we will send you periodic emails about upcoming fairs, events, or opportunities that might interest you. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time (see "Your Privacy Rights" below).
• For Advertising and Analytics: We may use cookies and third-party advertising networks to show you relevant advertisements for our events or services, and to measure the effectiveness of our ads. For example, we might use Google Analytics to understand how users interact with our website and use that insight to improve content or use advertising partners to display our ads on other websites you visit. We may also engage in targeted advertising, which means using information collected about your visits (on our site and others) to infer your preferences and show your ads tailored to your interests. Any such processing is done in accordance with applicable law, and you have the ability to opt out of targeted advertising as described in the "Your Privacy Rights" section.
• To Ensure Security and Prevent Misuse: We may process personal and usage data as needed to maintain the security of our website, systems, and users. This includes using information to detect, prevent, and address fraud, illegal activities, or technical issues. For example, we may log IP addresses to help identify and block malicious attempts to access our site.
• To Comply with Legal Obligations: In certain cases, we may need to use or disclose your information to comply with laws, regulations, court orders, or other legal obligations. For instance, if we receive a valid subpoena or need to enforce our site's Terms of Use, we may process personal information as required. We may also use your data to exercise or defend our legal rights if necessary.
We will not use your personal information for purposes that are incompatible with those described above without updating this Policy or obtaining your consent when required. We only collect and use the minimum amount of data necessary for each purpose, and we base our processing on lawful grounds such as your consent (for example, for marketing emails or certain cookies), our legitimate interests in running and improving our events and website, or compliance with legal obligations.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies (small text files stored on your device) and similar tracking technologies to provide and improve our website and services. This section explains our use of these technologies and your choices.
• Types of Cookies We Use: Our site uses both first-party and third-party cookies for various functions. For example, we use essential cookies to enable core site functionality (such as remembering your preferences or allowing you to submit forms). We use analytics cookies (like those from Google Analytics) to collect information about how visitors use our site, which helps us analyze web traffic and improve the user experience. We may also use advertising and social media cookies to support marketing efforts -for instance, if we ever participate in ad networks or use social media "pixels," these cookies can track your browsing to show you tailored ads about our events on other platforms. These tracking technologies may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring site or ad, and can recognize your device over time.
• Why We Use Cookies: We use cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences (e.g., whether you've dismissed a notification), understand usage of our website (which pages are popular, how users navigate, etc.), and customize or personalize content. Cookies also help with analytics (so we know what we're doing right or what needs improvement) and potentially tor advertising (to provide you with relevant promotions for our events, and to limit how many times you see the same ad). Any third-party advertising or social media integrations on our site may set cookies to track your online activities for advertising purposes. For example, if we embed a YouTube video or a Facebook share button, those services may set their own cookies.
• Third-Party Tracking and Do Not Track: Some content or applications on our site are served by third parties, including advertisers, analytics providers, and social media networks. These third parties may use cookies or other tracking technologies to collect information about you when you use our site. Please note: Web browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (ONT) setting that allows you to signal your privacy preference to websites. However, there is currently no universal standard for recognizing or honoring DNT signals. As a result, our website does not respond to Do Not Track browser signals in a uniform way. That said, we do honor certain global privacy control signals (also known as universal opt-out mechanisms) as required by law-for instance, if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we will treat it as a valid opt-out of the "sale" or sharing of your data for targeted advertising, as described below (see Your Privacy Rights). We continue to monitor industry and legal developments around DNT and will adjust our practices if standards emerge.
• Your Choices for Cookies: You have several options to control or limit how cookies are used on your devices. Most web browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through the settings menu. You can set your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. You can also delete cookies that have already been set. Please note that if you disable cookies in your brovyser, some parts of our site may not function properly (for example, forms may not remember your details or certain features might not work). For analytics cookies like Google Analytics, Google provides its own opt-out mechanism (such as a browser add-on). For interest-based advertising cookies, you can often opt-out through industry organizations such as the NAI or DAA websites (for example, by visiting the NAl's consumer opt-out page or DAA's WebChoices tool). Additionally, if we implement a cookie consent banner or preferences tool on our site, you can use that to manage non-essential cookies.
Third-Party Services and Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties for money. However, we do share certain information with third parties to operate our website, run our events, and advertise effectively. In all cases, we disclose personal data to third parties only for the purposes described in this Policy, and we take steps to ensure those third parties safeguard your data appropriately. Below we explain the categories of third parties with whom we may share information and why:
• Service Providers: We use trusted third-party companies to help us run our operations and provide services on our behalf. This includes, for example, website hosting providers, email service providers (for managing newsletters or contact emails), customer relationship management or database services, and IT support. We share information with these service providers only as needed for them to perform their functions for us (for instance, if you submit a contact form, your data may be stored on our website host's servers or sent to our email account for retrieval). All service providers are contractually obligated to keep your information confidential and secure, and to use it only for the specific services we have requested. They do not have any independent right to use your personal data beyond what is necessary to assist us, and they must adhere to applicable data protection laws.
• Third-Party Ticketing and Event Partners: As noted, if you choose to purchase tickets or register for events through our partner Fairs.com, you will be interacting with a third-party platform. We do not directly collect or process the payment information or details you provide on Fairs.com -those are handled under
Fairs.corn's own privacy policy and terms. We may, however, receive certain data from Fairs.com related to your transaction (such as confirmation of your purchase or your contact details for event registration purposes) so that we can fulfill your order or admission. We share with Fairs.com only the information necessary for facilitating ticket sales and event management (for example, if we generate a unique event code or need to validate a registration, we may share that limited info with the platform). Any information you provide on the Fairs.com site is governed by Fairs.corn's Privacy Policy, not this one, so we encourage you to review their policy when providing information there.
• Advertising and Analytics Partners: We may allow third-party advertising networks and analytics providers to collect information about your browsing on our site through cookies or pixels, as described in the Cookies section. These partners may include Google (for analytics or possible Google Ads), Facebook or lnstagram (for social media advertising), or similar platforms. The information collected (such as device identifiers, browsing activity, and cookie data) may be used by those companies to provide us with aggregated analytics or to serve you ads for our events on other sites. For example, we might use Google Analytics to understand site traffic or use Facebook Pixel to measure the effectiveness of any Facebook ads we run. Important: If these activities qualify as a "sale" of personal information or "sharing for targeted advertising" under applicable laws (because third-party cookies can use your data for their own advertising purposes), you have the right to opt out of them (see Your Privacy Rights below). We will honor any opt-out preferences you express, and we will not share your data with advertising partners for targeted advertising if you have opted out. We also do not share any directly identifying information (like your name or email) with these advertising third parties unless you've consented or initiated such sharing (for instance, if you click a social media share button).
• Social Media Plugins: Our website may integrate social media features or plugins (such as a Facebook "Like" button, lnstagram feed widget, or Twitter "tweet" button). These features are provided by the social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, lnstagram, X/Twitter) and may collect certain information from you automatically when they load on a page of our site. For example, social media plugins may collect your IP address and record which page you are visiting on our site, and they might set cookies to enable the feature to function properly. If you are logged into those social networks, the plugins may also link the collected data with your profile on that platform. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the respective platform providing them. For instance, if you use a Facebook plugin on our site, Facebook's privacy policy will apply to the data it collects. We do not control the data collection or tracking practices of these third-party features. If you do not want social networks to collect information via plugins, you can log out of your social media accounts or use browser plugins to block these widgets.
• Legal Compliance and Protection: We may disclose personal information to external parties when we believe in good faith that such disclosure is required to: comply with applicable law or legal process (such as subpoenas or court orders); enforce our own agreements or policies; protect the safety, rights, or property of our organization, our users, or the public; or investigate and defend against legal claims. This might include sharing information with law enforcement or government agencies in response to lawful requests.
• Business Transfers: In the unlikely event that Allen County Fairgrounds undergoes a major business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or transfer of operations, personal information in our possession may be part of the transferred assets. We would only transfer data under such circumstances with appropriate protections in place and with the understanding that the receiving party will honor the commitments we make in this Privacy Policy. We would notify you (for example, via a notice on our site) if your information becomes subject to a new privacy policy as a result of a business change.
Aside from the situations described above, we will not share your personal information with third parties for their independent use without your consent. In particular, we do not sell your personal data to unaffiliated third parties for their own marketing. We also do not share personal information with third-party marketers for direct marketing purposes without your opt-in consent. (For example, we will notgive your email or phone number to another company so they can market their products to you.) If this ever changes, we will update this Policy and provide required notices/opt-in or opt-out choices.
Links to Other Websites
Our website may contain links to external websites or services that are not operated by us, such as Fairs.com (for tickets and registrations) or our social media pages. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. This Privacy Policy does not apply to information collected on any site or service outside of allencountyfairgroundsin.com. We have no control over, and are not responsible for, the content, privacy practices, or policies of third-party websites. We strongly encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external sites you visit via links from our site, so you understand how those third parties collect and use your information. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about linked third-party websites.
Your Privacy Rights
We believe you should have control over your personal information. Therefore, we honor privacy rights that are provided by law and, in many cases, extend those rights to all our users regardless of their location. Under various U.S. state privacy laws, including CCPA/CPRA in California, VCDPA in Virginia, and others, individuals have specific rights regarding their personal data. These include rights to know, access, delete, and opt out of certain uses of personal information, among others. Recent laws have also introduced rights to correct your information and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We have summarized your key privacy rights below:
• Right to Know and Access: You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and share about you. You can request that we disclose the categories of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources of that information, the business or commercial purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it (as described in this Policy). You also have the right to access the specific pieces of personal information we have about you. In other words, you can request a copy of the personal data you provided to us or that we have associated with you. This allows you to confirm we have it right and to be informed about how your data is being handled.
• Right to Deletion: You have the right to request deletion of the personal information we have collected from you and retained, subject to certain exceptions.
Upon your verified request, we will delete (and direct our service providers to delete) your personal information from our records, unless an exception applies. Please note that we may retain information if necessary for legitimate business or legal reasons -for example, if the data is required to complete a transaction you requested, to detect security incidents, to comply with a legal obligation, or other exceptions permitted by law, we may not be able to delete it entirely. We will inform you of any such exceptions that apply to a deletion request.
• Right to Correction: If you find that any personal information we maintain about you is inaccurate or outdated, you have the right to request that we correct or update it. We strive to keep your information accurate, and upon verification, we will rectify any inaccuracies you identify. For instance, if your email address or phone number has changed, you can ask us to update our records.
• Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing: You have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information to third parties. Although we do not sell data for money, the term "sale" under laws like CCPA/CPRA is defined broadly and can include certain types of data sharing for advertising. Likewise, you have the right to opt out of the sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising purposes (also called cross-context behavioral advertising). If we engage in any activity that is considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal data under applicable law (for example, allowing third-party ad cookies that use your data for their own advertising), you can instruct us not to sell or share your personal information. We will honor your request and refrain from such activity for your data. In practice, this means if you opt out, we will disable or not permit third-party trackers that would use your site visit information for targeted ads, to the extent feasible. You can opt out of sales/sharing by using the methods described in "Exercising Your Rights" below (such as contacting us or using a browser-based opt-out signal). We do not have any financial incentive programs involving your personal data, so no separate opt-out of financial incentive is needed.
• Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights. This means we will not deny you goods or services, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of quality of service just because you exercised your data rights. Your experience with Allen County Fairgrounds (such as ticket prices or access to events) will be the same whether or not you choose to exercise these rights. The only scenario where we might not be able to fulfill a request is if it conflicts with legal requirements or certain permitted purposes, but in no case will we retaliate or penalize you for asking.
• Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Information: If we ever collect sensitive personal information (as defined by law, e.g. government IDs, financial information, precise geolocation, or certain demographic data), California's CPRA and some other state laws give you the right to limit our use and disclosure of that sensitive information to only what is necessary to provide the services. In our case, we do not collect or process sensitive personal information like Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, financial account info, precise location, or biometric identifiers. The personal data we handle (name, contact info, etc.) is not considered sensitive under these laws. Therefore, this right may not be applicable because we don't use sensitive data beyond what's necessary. If that changes, we will update this policy and give you appropriate rights to limit use of sensitive data.
• Rights for California Residents (Shine the Light): Separate from CCPA, California's "Shine the Light" law allows residents to request certain information about our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. However, we do not share personal information with third parties for their independent direct marketing without consent. If you are a California resident and have questions about how we share your information with third parties for marketing, you can contact us as described below. We either disclose the required information or ensure we only share data in compliance with the law (typically, by obtaining your consent first, or by only sharing in ways that are exempt, such as with service providers).
• Other Rights: If you are a resident of a state with additional privacy rights not listed above, we will respect those as well. For example, Virginia residents have a right to opt out of profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. While we do not engage in automated decision-making that produces such effects, we note that right here. Virginia (and some other states) also require that if we decline to take action on a rights request, you must be offered the right to appeal our decision. We address this process below in "Exercising Your Rights." Additionally, residents of Colorado, Connecticut, and other states that have enacted privacy laws effective in 2023-2025 enjoy rights similar to those described above, and we intend to fully comply with all such laws. Generally, if you have a privacy right under any applicable law, we intend to honor it. If you have any questions or requests, please reach out to us.
We extend the above rights to all our users nationwide, even if certain rights (like correction or opt-out of sharing} may not yet be legally required in every jurisdiction. Our goal is to handle personal information in a way that gives all individuals control and choice.
Exercising Your Rights
How to Submit a Request: If you wish to exercise any of the rights described above (such as accessing or deleting your information}, you may contact us through the following methods:
• Online Contact Form: You can submit a request through our website's contact form. Please include in your message that you are making a "privacy request" and specify which right you wish to exercise (for example, "request to delete my personal info" or "request to know what data you have about me"}.
• Email: Send us an email at support@allencofairgrounds.org with the subject line "Privacy Rights Request." In the email, please provide your name and describe the nature of your request (e.g., what information you would like to access or delete}. This dedicated email can be used for privacy inquiries and requests.
• Phone: You may call us at (260) 449-4444 and inform us that you want to make a privacy request. We may ask you to follow up in writing for verification purposes, but we will log the request via phone as well.
• Mail: If you prefer, you can mail your request to us at the address provided in the "Contact Us" section below. Please Attn it to "Privacy Request-[Your Name]" and include sufficient detail about your request and how we can reach you.
For your protection, we will need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests (such as access or deletion requests}. Verification helps ensure that we do not release or delete personal information to the wrong person. We may verify identity by asking you to confirm personal details we already have on file (for example, verifying your name, email, or last interaction with us}. For highly sensitive requests, we might request additional information or identification. If you are making a request on behalf of someone else (as an authorized agent or legal guardian), we will require proof of your authority to act on that person's behalf, as well as verification of the identity of the subject of the request.
Once we receive your request, we will confirm receipt within a reasonable timeframe (typically within 10 days for California residents, as required). We will then work to process and respond to your request within the time period required by law. For most rights requests (access, deletion, etc.), we will respond within 45 days of receiving a verifiable request. If we need more time (up to an additional 45 days, for a total of 90 days), we will inform you of the extension and the reason for it in writing. Our response will be delivered either through your preferred contact method (email or mail) or via the same method you made the request, if appropriate.
Appeals (Virginia and Others): If we deny or partially deny a request (for example, if we cannot verify your identity or an exception applies that prevents us from fulfilling it), we will inform you of the reason for the denial. In jurisdictions like Virginia that require an appeals process, or as part of our commitment to go above requirements, you have the right to appeal our decision. To appeal, you may contact us using the same methods above, preferably in writing, indicating that you are appealing our prior decision regarding your privacy request. Please include any additional information that might help us reconsider.
We will review your appeal and respond within the time required by law (Virginia requires within 60 days of receipt of an appeal). If after the appeal you are still dissatisfied, and you are in a state that provides further recourse (such as contacting the state Attorney General or a privacy regulator), we will inform you how to do so in our appeal response.
Opt-Out Preferences: For opting out of the sale/sharing of data for targeted advertising, you can submit a request through any of the channels above (e.g., "Do Not Sell or Share My Information"). Additionally, as noted in the Cookies section, if your browser is configured with a Global Privacy Control {GPC) or similar universal opt-out signal, our site will treat that as an opt-out request for your device/browser going forward. You can also use cookie management tools on our site (if available) to opt out of advertising cookies, which is another way of signaling your preference. We endeavor to make the opt-out process as straightforward as possible. Once you opt out, we will, as applicable, stop any "sales" of your data and stop sharing your data with third parties for targeted advertising. If you have multiple browsers or devices, please note you may need to set your preferences on each one (since an opt-out cookie or signal on one browser won't automatically apply to another).
We do not charge a fee for processing your verifiable consumer requests to exercise your rights. However, if requests from a particular individual become excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded, we reserve the right allowed by law to deny or charge a reasonable fee for further requests - but we will explain our decision in such cases.
Our goal is to ensure you feel comfortable exercising your rights. If you have any questions about the process or need assistance, please contact us and we will do our best to help. Your privacy is important to us, and we are committed to facilitating your control over your personal information.
Data Security
We take the security of your personal information very seriously. Allen County Fairgrounds has implemented a variety of technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. While no website or online service can guarantee absolute security, we strive to use industry best practices to safeguard your data.
• Technical Safeguards: We utilize measures such as firewalls, secure servers, encryption, and SSL/TLS (Secure Sockets Layer/Transport Layer Security) technology to protect data transmission on our site. For instance, when you submit information through our contact form, the transmission is encrypted. Data stored in digital format is protected on secure systems, and we employ up-to-date security software to guard against viruses and malware. Where applicable, personal data is encrypted at rest or during transfer. We regularly update and patch our website platform and hosting environment to address security vulnerabilities.
• Organizational Measures: We limit access to personal information to those people who need it to perform their job duties (for example, staff or volunteers who handle inquiries or manage events). Those who access personal data are bound by confidentiality obligations. We provide guidance and training to our team about privacy and data security practices, reinforcing the importance of protecting user data. We also have procedures in place to handle any suspected data security incidents swiftly and effectively, including steps to notify affected individuals and authorities as required by law in the unfortunate event of a data breach.
• Payment Information: (Note: We typically do not collect payment information on our site, as ticket purchases are handled through a third-party platform (Fairs.com). However, if in the future we process any payments directly, we will ensure those transactions are handled over encrypted connections and in compliance with industry standards such as PCI-DSS for payment security.)
• No Guarantee: Despite our best efforts, please be aware that no security measure is 100% foolproof. There is always some risk in transmitting information over the internet. We therefore cannot guarantee the absolute security of information, but we do continuously evaluate and enhance our security measures to mitigate risks. You can also play a part in protecting your data by using strong, unique passwords for any accounts and by exercising caution when sending sensitive information via email or web forms.
If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us or your data is no longer secure (for example, if you feel that the security of any account you have with us has been compromised), please immediately contact us using the information in the Contact Us section. We will work with you to address any concerns.
Data Retention
We will retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, as described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. In practice, this means:
• Contact form submissions and related inquiries will be kept for as long as needed to respond to you and maintain any necessary records of our communication. For example, if you contact us about volunteering or facility rental, we may retain that correspondence until the matter is fully addressed, and for a reasonable period thereafter in case follow-up is needed.
• If you subscribe to our email list or consent to receive marketing communications, we will retain your email and necessary contact info until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Upon opt-out, we may keep your contact information on a suppression list (to ensure we honor no-contact requests in the future).
• Website logs and analytics records (which may contain IP addresses or other technical data) are generally retained for a short period (e.g., a few months) for analysis and security monitoring, and then either deleted or anonymized. We balance our need for such data against your privacy and store it only as long as is useful.
• Information received from third-party ticketing or event partners (like registration lists) will be retained as long as needed for event administration and any related legal or business purposes (such as financial record-keeping or addressing any disputes).
• We periodically review the personal data we hold and either delete or anonymize information that is no longer needed. For instance, if we find we have old inquiry emails from many years ago that are no longer relevant, we may securely archive or remove those.
• In all cases, if there is a legal requirement to keep data longer (for example, compliance with a law enforcement request, tax or accounting regulations, or evidence preservation for legal claims), we will retain the information for that extended period. Conversely, if you exercise your right to deletion, we will delete your data (and instruct our service providers to delete it) unless an exception applies.
When we delete personal information, we will do so using secure methods (such as erasing electronic files and backup data and shredding physical documents containing personal info). If data is anonymized (de-identified) so that it can no longer be associated with any individual, we may retain and use that information indefinitely, as it no longer constitutes personal information.
Children's Privacy
Our website and services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years old. In fact, many of our events and activities are family-friendly, but our online data collection (such as contact forms) is intended for adults (or minors with parental supervision) only. If you are under 13, please do not submit any personal information to us. Parents or guardians should supervise their children's online activities and consider using parental control tools.
If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take immediate steps to delete that information from our records. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us right away so that we can investigate and address the issue. We will promptly remove any data collected from a minor under 13 (unless we have a legal obligation to keep it, in which case we will secure it and isolate it from further use).
For minors between 13 and 18: Our site is generally intended for a general audience and not specifically for minors, but if you are under 18, you should use our site only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. Some state laws (like California's privacy law) provide additional rights for minors under 16 regarding the sale of their data (e.g., requiring opt-in consent). We do not sell the personal data of minors under 16, as stated above. If a minor under 16 in California (or similar age threshold in other states) provides us personal data, we will treat it as if they opted-out of any sale/sharing by default or seek parental authorization if ever in a context of sale.
We encourage parents and guardians to talk to their children about not sharing their personal information without permission when online. We also encourage parents to familiarize themselves with the parental control settings on devices and browsers.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update or revise this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make changes, we will post the updated Privacy Policy on this page with a new "Last Updated" date at the top. Any changes will become effective when posted, unless otherwise indicated. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information.
If we make any material changes to this Policy (for example, if we start collecting additional personal information or using it in new ways not previously disclosed), we will take reasonable steps to notify you. This may include posting a prominent notice on our website, and/or directly communicating with you via email or other contact information you have provided. Where required by law, we will also obtain your consent for significant changes. For instance, if at some point we wanted to use your personal data for a new purpose that is not compatible with the purposes for which it was originally collected, we would either seek your consent or provide an opportunity to opt out, as applicable.
